JOHN D. MURNANE JOINS FITZPATRICK, CELLA, HARPER & SCINTO’S PATENT PRACTICE
NEW YORK, NY, June 2, 2003 - The midtown intellectual property law firm Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto is pleased to announce that John D. Murnane has joined the firm as a partner as of May 27, 2003.

Mr. Murnane has served as lead counsel in a number of complex litigations involving patents in a variety of fields, counseled clients in many licensing negotiations, and prepared and prosecuted numerous patent applications during his 24 years of practice. His work focuses primarily on chemical, biological and mechanical industries. He has worked on many patents related to natural gas processing and with companies that develop improved consumer products, such as tires, roofing shingles, mattress fabrics and cell phones. Key clients have included ElkCorp, Michelin and Verizon Wireless.
Recently named President-elect of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association, Mr. Murnane has also served on the New York State Task Force on Life and the Law since his 1997 appointment by Governor Pataki. He has taught patent law as an Adjunct Professor at Fordham University and Hofstra University law schools and is a frequent speaker at bar association and civic functions.
Mr. Murnane, age 50, majored in premedical studies at the University of Notre Dame where he received a B.S., cum laude, in 1975. He obtained his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School in 1979. Following graduation, Mr. Murnane served as an associate and then a partner in the New York intellectual property firm Brumbaugh, Graves, Donohue & Raymond. When that firm subsequently merged with Baker & Botts LLP, he became a partner at Baker & Botts LLP. He and his family live in Millwood, N.Y., located in Westchester County.
