Professional Experience
Leisa Smith Lundy is active in all aspects of the firm's patent practice, focusing primarily on litigation, IP due diligence investigations, and client counseling and patent portfolio management for major financial institution clients. Ms. Lundy has extensive experience in patent litigation and has worked with technologies such as biological, pharmaceutical and chemical arts. She also has particular experience in litigating ANDA cases brought under the Hatch-Waxman Act involving pharmaceutical compounds and compositions.
Her litigation experience includes representing:
- Novartis against Breckenridge, Roxane, Taro and Teva on a patent relating to Novartis anti-epileptic drug Trileptal®
- GlaxoSmithKline against Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Cobalt Pharmaceuticals and Spectrum Pharmaceuticals in an ANDA litigation relating to GlaxoSmithKline’s blockbuster serotonin agonist drug Imitrex®.
- Pfizer, Inc. against several generic challengers including, Purepac Pharmaceuticals, Apotex Inc., Teva Pharmaceuticals, Ivax Corporation and Eon Labs in an ANDA litigation relating to Pfizer’s blockbuster anti-epileptic drug Neurontin®.
- Emory University against Glaxo Wellcome and Biochem Pharma on patents relating to antiviral agents for the treatment of HIV.
Ms. Lundy also has prior experience as an in-house patent prosecution attorney in air separation technology, including cryogenic and membrane separation. Ms. Lundy's prior experience also included drafting and negotiating licensing agreements for such technology as applied to the semiconductor and steel industries.
Ms. Lundy is Co-Chair of the firm's Diversity Committee.
Awards and Recognition
Leisa M. Smith was selected in 2003 to receive The Network Journal’s 40-Under-Forty Achievement Award, recognizing her community involvement and leadership in the business field.
