NEW YORK, NY, (January 7, 2013) – Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto, one of the nation’s premier intellectual property law firms, is pleased to announce that Elizabeth F. Holowacz and Stephen K. Sullivan, Ph.D., who are both based out of the New York office, have been elected partners of the Firm, effective January 1, 2013.
“Elizabeth and Stephen have made their mark and have demonstrated high level performances in the field of intellectual property, and we are pleased they have been elected to our partnership,” said Fitzpatrick managing partner, Colleen Tracy. “We look forward to working with them in their new roles.”
Elizabeth F. Holowacz
Elizabeth F. Holowacz primarily focuses her practice on patent application writing, prosecution and counseling, particularly on matters related to the chemical arts. Ms. Holowacz focuses her practice on patent matters related to pharmaceutical agents, formulations and dosing regimens, artificial sweeteners and related products, food colorants, beverage systems, personal hygiene products, and semiconductors.
Ms. Holowacz, (age 40), received her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1997, where she earned the titles of Chancellor’s Scholar and Merck Scholar. She earned her B.A., cum laude, in Chemistry from Drew University in 1994. She is admitted to the Bar in New York and New Jersey, U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. She resides in Wyckoff, NJ. Ms. Holowacz was previously an associate.
Stephen K. Sullivan
Stephen K. Sullivan has extensive experience working on intellectual property matters in the fields of biotechnology and chemistry. His current practice comprises all aspects of patent practice, including transaction due diligence, patent procurement, interference, opinion work, and patent litigation. His scope of patent work includes: preparation of new patent applications; amendment practice; prior art searches and analysis; patentability, validity, and freedom-to-operate opinions; licensing agreements; investigations into inventorship and third-party rights; portfolio design and management; and technology acquisition evaluation.
Dr. Sullivan (age 51) earned his J.D. from Fordham Law School in 1999, completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Molecular Biology and Electrophysiology at Columbia University from 1987 to 1990, earned a Ph.D. in Physiology from the University of Kansas in 1987, and earned a B.A. in Biology and Chemistry from Drury College, in 1983 (summa cum laude). He is a member of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Federal Circuit Bar Association, and resides in New York. Mr. Sullivan was previously counsel at the firm.
