Fitzpatrick is very pleased and proud to announce Tara A. Byrne and Simon D. Roberts have been elected partners of the firm effective January 1, 2006.
Tara A. Byrne is primarily active in complex patent litigation. She has worked on several Hatch-Waxman pharmaceutical litigations and was on the team that successfully defended AstraZeneca at trial and through appeal in connection with its world leading prescription ulcer medication, Prilosec®.
Ms. Byrne received her J.D. from New York Law School in 1994, and received her B.S. in Civil Engineering from University of Vermont College of Engineering in 1987. Ms. Byrne is also a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New York and the State of Vermont.
She is admitted to the Bar in the State of New York, the U.S. Districts Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Tara is a member of the American Bar Association and the New York Intellectual Property Law Association.
Simon D. Roberts is active in all aspects of the firm’s patent practice, with a focus on patent litigation in the chemical and pharmaceutical areas. Mr. Roberts has represented clients such as Eli Lilly, SmithKlineBeecham, Laboratories Fournier and AstraZeneca in litigations involving Prozac®, Famvir®, TriCor®, and Prilosec® and is currently working on several ANDA litigations involving Tequin®, Famvir® and Flomax®. Prior to becoming an attorney in the U.S., Mr. Roberts litigated various intellectual property matters in the U.K.
Mr. Roberts received his Barrister at Law degree from Inns of Court School of Law, London, U.K. in 1991, received his B.Sc. with honors in Chemistry & Law from Exeter University in 1989 and his B.A. with honors in Law from Exeter University in 1990.
He is admitted to the Bar in the State of New York, the U.S. Districts Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and in England and Wales. Mr. Roberts is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the New York Bar Association, the New York Intellectual Property Law Association and Gray’s Inn.
